it s a big honor that the former member and -minister of information- of underground resistance from detroit alan oldham aka dj t-1000 does a remix for this release. living between berlin and detroit, alan is a mastermind in electronic music and has pitched this track to a strong minimal -detroit meets berlin- version. the gunman remix is a more dramatic sub bass story. with snipped parts of the sigrid elliot vocals, a volumized organ and fx sounds, gunman gives you a blast for the dancefloor peak time. simon beeston, a music lover from new zealand who s also living in berlin, does a deep remix. with drums and a nice sub bass, he s showing his style.

our next big release at bad barbie, going out on digital and 12 inch, comes by the hand of aldo cadiz itself, but this time partnered with kareem cali. these two made a fantastic three track ep called monita ep. the first track monita presents a solid base created with a classic tech style and an extremely groovy bass line. full of small arrangements and a crazy vocal line, this tracks its perfect for any club dj. the second track bonita, is the one with the more old school vibe, from the bass line to the main acid synth, which goes evolving softly with a filter during the track to generate the needed tension. all this with a strong tech groove to follow the step of this solid ambience created by the acid synths. the last track moni, also has many techno and acid elements presents. we can perceive the techno soul mainly on the arrangement of the hi-hats and bass line, but the acid synth in triplet at the backend is what generates the crazy vibe and almost hypnotic feeling during the track, playing around with the volume of it. definitely a fantastic release to add to any collection.

entitled narita, the release is inspired by, and dedicated to, japan, and the tracks are a collage of all the experiences and emotions the producer has picked up there whilst on his travels. this release was also due to be the 44th on the label (which has now made it up to number 67) and so has clearly been cooking for a long time. once again it proves the man behind it to be focused on stripped back and hypnotic grooves, shadowy textures and subliminal synths that are abstract and truly heady. up first, sleepless is a spooky and hypnotic techno roller with icy pads and rubber drums that roll on like a haunted midnight train burrowning deep into your brain. ebisu is even more reserved, with just a light, skipping kick and tinkling, glassy keys suspending you in a wide open space of abstract atmospheric soun d. on th e flip side, mountain splitter is more urgent and immediate, with nervy pads this time racing alongside woodpecker precision and supple drums. it s heady stuff that really distracts you from the world before finally trance is a wash of grainy white noise and groaning synths that soundtrack a word deep down in the depths of the ocean. svreca is a master of getting deep inside both body and brain and does so in different but captivating ways with all four of these cuts.

san francisco-based dj/producer nick monaco has long been part of the soul clap family, releasing his first 12- on the label back in 2012. mating call, a double 12- set running at album length, is easily his most expansive release yet. it s typically eccentric, delivering a range of songs - featuring his own distinctive vocals - that blend numerous styles whilst retaining a loose, funky and altogether rather kaleidoscopic feel. it s rooted in balearic pop, but also touches on dub, deep house, boogie, dub disco and a strangely deep and contemporary take on the triple-beat rhythms of glam rock. it s hard to accurately describe, but is really rather good, certainly, it s one of soul clap s strongest releases of recent times.

the phantom is older than you think, both figuratively and literally. his debut on vinyl was on *it s my mike* by the funky force 2 back in 1987 on amanda records. in 1988 he recorded as part of the group the force and recorded *the mission* with the producer powercut. he is probably best known for being one of the main mcs in cult group dynametrix, who released an ep in 1991 and an lp in 1994 called *a measure of force* on kold sweat records. he also appeared on three tracks on the unsung heroes lp *unleashed* as well as appearing with tom dice on *thug killer*.

atom™ (also known as atom heart and often confused with señor coconut, real name uwe schmidt) is a german composer, musician and record producer of electronic music. he is often regarded as the father of electrolatino, electrogospel and aciton (acid-reggaeton) music.
